Festivals in Sikkim

Flower Festival: The imaginative display of flowers in a large glass house at the Flower Exhibition Centre near the White Hall Complex.

Gangtok Food and Culture Festival: December is the month for the Festival. Sikkim's multi-cultural cuisine, along with traditional music and dance performances are presented for the tourist.

Hee Bermiock Heritage & Tourism Festival : Hosts the annual Heritage & Tourism Festival on the 10th to the 13th of May, showcasing the traditional culture of the state.

Khangchendzonga Tourist festival: Is held from 24th of December to 26th of December every year at Pelling, West  Sikkim.

Lampokhari Tourism Festival: is held during end of March and early April, around the time of the Hindu Festival Ramnawami.The major attraction of the Festival is adventure sports.

Mangan Music Festival: from the 12th to the 14th of December every year. Bands from the region as well as from the Northeast states entertain the huge gathering and compete for the main prize.

Namchi Mahotsav: tourists who come here in October each year for the annual Namchi Mahotsav,a unique festival showcasing the traditional culture of Sikkim.

Ravangla Festival: A five day festival "Rabong Discovered" is held at Ravangla from 8th to 12th of April every year at Cho-Zo Lake area.

Bumchu Festival: This festival is celebrated at Tashiding Monastery on the 15th day of the first month of the Tibetan calendar.

Dasain: This is the main festival of the Hindu Nepalese of Sikkim. It takes place in the month of September-October.

Losar: Losar is the Tibetan New Year which falls in the month of February and is likewise celebrated by inviting friends and relatives forfamily gatherings.

Losoong: The festival of Lossong is mostly celebrated in the month of December every year with traditional gaiety and colour both by the Lepchas and Bhutias.

Maghe Sankranti: It falls on the fourteenth of January every year. A bathing festival called Makkar is observed, when people take a dip at the confluence of the Tista and Rangit.

Namsoong Festival: begins from 1st day of the "Kurneet Lovo", corresponding to the month of December/January every year. The  festival continues  for  seven days.

Pang-Lhabsol: To this day the mountain god is invoked and prayed upon at Pang Lhabsol to continue protecting Sikkim. The festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 7th month of the Tibetan calendar corresponding to late August/early September.

Saga Dawa: Triple Blessed Festival is an auspicious month for the Sikkimese Buddhists with prayers held throughout the month in various monasteries. On the full moon of this 4th month of the Tibetan calendar.

Sakewa: Is celebrated with great enthusiasm by all Rais. One of the oldest festivals of the state it is celebrated as a big harvest festival with the worship of nature.

Sonam Lochar: is an important festival of Tamang community. The festival falls in the month January and February (Magha Sukla Pakcha) Spring saeason.

Tamu Lochar: It marks the beginning of the Gurung New Year which falls on the 15th day of Pusa, according Vikram Sambatand 30th December in English Calendar.

Tendong Lho Rum Faat: Is one of the oldest festivals of the Lepchas and is usually held in August. The 3 day celebrations begin with the offering of prayers to Mount Tendong.

Tihar (Diwali): It corresponds to the festival of Diwali, the festival of lights. 

Trungkar Tsechu : The birth anniversary of Guru Padmasambhava, the patron saint of Sikkim is celebrated with great pomp in the state. It falls on the tenth day of the fifth Tibetan month.
